Family Counselling
Is when a a family works with a trained counsellor to improve communication, collectively solve family problems and address specific issues that affect the family, such as major life transitions, illness or mental health conditions. It aims to promote understanding and collaboration among family members in order to solve the problems of one or more individuals.
● Beneficial when the family experience any stressful event that may strain family relationships, such as divorce/separation, relocation, death of a loved one or financial constraints.
● Effective in treating everyday concerns, like communication problems, conflict, change of school, teachers and/or friends, or behavioral problems in children and adolescents.
“When the counsellor does understand how it truly feels to be in another person’s world, without wanting or trying to analyse or judge it, then the counsellor and the client can truly blossom and grow in that climate”.
(Carl Rogers)
